DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FLAKE ICE AND CUBE ICE

Flake Ice

Flake ice is a type of ice that is made by freezing water in a thin layer and then scraping it off in small, irregularly-shaped flakes. It typically contains about 70-80% ice and 20-30% water. Flake ice is primarily used for food display, transportation, and preservation. It is often used in the seafood and meat industries because it can maintain a constant temperature and humidity level while preserving the freshness of the products.

Cube Ice

On the other hand, cube ice is made by freezing water in a mold until it forms a solid block, which is then broken up into individual cubes. Cube ice typically contains about 98% ice and 2% water. It is primarily used for cooling beverages, food preservation, and in medical applications, as it can be easily sterilized. Cube ice is often preferred in restaurants and bars because it melts more slowly than flake ice, thereby keeping drinks colder for a longer period of time.
